It was developed by Sonic Team and released for the Game Boy Advance in 2005 by Sega in the United States and THQ in Europe and Australia. It is notable for being the only game in the 2 Games in 1 series to be released in the United States.
The games in 2 Games in 1: Sonic Advance & Sonic Pinball Party themselves are nearly identical to those that were originally released. However, the game is given a selection menu for the different titles it contains. When booting up 2 Games in 1: Sonic Advance & Sonic Pinball Party, the game's selection menu is displayed. The control of the selection menu is done with : by pressing up or down, the player can select the different games.
Both games contain separate Tiny Chao Gardens. Selecting "Save and Quit" in either of them will return the player to the game select screen.
Depending on the game loaded, they will each have different results when the player resets the game (by holding + + Select + Start).
If Sonic Advance is loaded, the player be returned to the game select screen.
