A Collection Key is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a gear-shaped key located in White Space, which is used to open a Collection Box and obtained a specific piece of media within it.

Appearance[]

The Collections Keys are gray medallions that ressemble gears. The have a yellow circular border on the inside. Inside the border lies a circle whose color varies with a different symbol in the inside: a yellow one with a music note, a blue one with a paint brush, and a green one with a book.

Overview[]

In Shadow Generations, the Collection Keys appear as collectibles within stages and Challenge Acts, akin to the Red Star Ring. Upon obtaining one, it can be used to open a Collection Box, depending on the theme. There are a total of 96 Collection Keys; 10 green keys, 32 yellow keys, and 54 blue keys. In each stage and Challenge Act, there are three Collection Keys that are hidden. If the player revisits a stage where a Collection Key is obtained already, it will have a transparent appearance.
