The Collection Box[1] (コレクションボックス[2],Korekushon Bokkusu?) is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a chest located in White Space, which contains a specific piece of media, that can only be opened with a Collection Key.
Collection Boxes resemble metallic-like chests and are typically shaped chests with varying colors and details. The chests that contain music are yellow and are adorned with music notes, chests that contain artwork are blue and have both a paint brush icon and flowing markings, and chests that contain Shadow's history are green with a book icon and angular markings.

In Shadow Generations, the Collection Boxes are spread out across White Space. There are 96 of them in total; 10 green Collection Boxes, 22 yellow Collection Boxes, and 54 blue Collections Boxes. They can be opened with a Collection Key, in which the player can receive some by collecting them through stages and Challenge Acts.
Depending on which box is opened, the player will receive a piece of media, that can be viewed through the Collection Room; the green ones give away segments of Shadow's history, the yellow ones give away music, and the blue ones give away artwork.
