Cocoa Island (ココアアイランド Kokoaa Irando?),[1][2] also called as Tails Island[3] or Kokko Island,[4] is a location in the Sonic the Hedgehog series and the main setting of Tails Adventure. It is tiny island on the spring-like South Pacific, that is not possible to found on any map. Cocoa Island is also the place, where Miles "Tails" Prower has lived for unknown period of time.[1] Cocoa Island is a fairly homogeneous climate with forests, mountains and caverns, as it is also surrounded by numerous islands around it offshore.
History
Before his first conformation with Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower has lived on the Cocoa Island. One day though, the island has been invaded by Battle Kukku Empire, as the battleship with battalion of empire's soldiers set the Poloy Forest on fire, which wakes up Tails with Flicky informing about empire's attack. Tails then notices large mecha in the flames, as the empire's leader Great Battle Kukku is after Chaos Emeralds that are hidden around the Cocoa Island.[1]
The following events commences Tails' first adventure around the island to gather Chaos Emeralds along with his Remote Robot, while first meeting Great Battle Kukku's son Battle Kukku XVI in Polly Mountain, taking down empire's battle cruiser on the open sea and destroying both Mecha Golems in Cavern Island and Volcanic Tunnel. Eventually, Tails discovers lonely island in the southeast, that later turns out to be empire's flying Battle Fortress. After taking down both Battle Kukku XVI (for the second time) and Great Battle Kukku himself, the Battle Fortress sinks to the ocean and the peace has come again to the Cocoa Island.
Locations
Tails' House
Years before Tails got his gloved hands on property in Mystic Ruins, Emerald Town, or Central City, the fox's first workshop took the form of a modest little abode on the south shore of Cocoa Island.
This cozy wood-paneled house has a rather more high-tech attachment in the form of the Sea Fox's submarine lab. Tails stores the equipment he can't carry with him here, and returns to the house over and over again during the course of the adventure to refit. Exactly why the Battle Bird Armada doesn't just bomb the place into the ground is anyone's guess; presumably Tails' House is sufficiently inconspicuous as to avoid attracting the eyes (and guns) of the avian imperialists.
Main Island
Playable stages on Cocoa Island proper (represented by the black entrances on the map) are, clockwise from Tails' House:
- Poloy Forest, set alight by the Kukkus at the outset
- Caron Forest, untouched woodland with caves and waterfalls
- Polly Mountain 2, pitch-black caves and high bluffs
- Polly Mountain 1, another (slightly less dark) entrance to the mountain chain
- Volcanic Tunnel, magma tubes below the surface
- And also Lake Crystal, a Sea Fox level that sees Tails navigate the island's central river.
Offshore
- Lake Rocky, accessed from the little pier south of Tails' House
- Green Island, the northwest wooded islet; full of bees
- Cavern Island in the northeast; a labyrinth of submarine riptides
- Battle Fortress in the southeast; the Battle Kukku Empire massive command fortress

Trivia
- As western instruction manuals of Tails Adventure include altered storyline around the game, Tails Island is specified as Tails' favorite holiday spot and has taken a little vacation to the island after his and Sonic's previous adventure.[3]
