A rusty and cracked ceremonial sword.
Clarent (クラリス , Kurarisu ? is an object that appears in Sonic and the Black Knight Sonic the Hedgehog in gameplay before obtaining Caliburn . It serves as Sonic's practice sword in Misty Lake , and is only used by the player during first playthrough of the third mission of the game.
Description
Clarent resembles a basic, yet poorly cared for, arming sword . It has a thin wrapped brown grip with a thick brown gross-guard that curves slightly upward, towards the blade. The blade of Clarent itself is double-edged, and is cracked and rusty, with a brown sheet at the foot of it.

According to the Alliterative Morte Arthure Excalibur and Clarent are considered the same sword.
After Sonic obtains Caliburn, replaying the tutorial missions will have Caliburn permanantly replace the Clarent. References
