Chrome Gadget (クロームガジェット[1] Kurōmu Gajetto?) is a Zone that appears in the Competition mode of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and the lock-on game Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and the third Zone in Grand Prix mode.
Description[]
Chrome Gadget is an industrial-themed Zone that takes place in an energy power plant during the night. While the sky is dark and cloudy, the moon can be seen in the background and brightens up the valley. The Zone's layout is very basic but has multiple gimmicks to slow down the player.
Gameplay[]
Various of the gimmicks in Chrome Gadget include fans that make the player float upwards and bumper walls.
Overview[]
Players will start out by entering the triangular platform. The platform moves slowly upwards and downwards after the player jumps off on it, this also makes the platform dangerous because touching the lower point of the platform can injure the player, and they will have to head back to the starting point. Because of this, the player should avoid the red Springs on the left.
Right near the fans, there is a white Switch that adds the Spring attachment on the U-shaped gap for a few seconds. Alternately, the Spring's position can be aimed up or down so the player can run towards either the U-shaped gap or run towards the ceiling and back to the section with fans. When the Spring attachment is off, it is set to open the small route that has bumper walls and leads back to the starting point.
Trivia[]
- Gigantic Angel Zone Act 2 from Sonic Pocket Adventure reuses the background music from the Chrome Gadget Zone.
- Titanic Monarch Zone from Sonic Mania takes some inspiration from this stage, such as the cabled floors and night sky. Furthermore, in Sonic Mania Plus, the Zone's Encore Mode color palette is changed to a dark green that matches that of Chrome Gadget's.
