Christopher "Chris" Thorndyke (クリストファー "クリス" ソーンダイク Kurisutofā "Kurisu" Sōndaiku?) is the main human protagonist and one of Sonic's best friends in Sonic X (Archie comic) which is based off of the Anime series Sonic X. He is a 12-year-old kind and caring boy and who lives in Station Square on the planet Earth, which is regarded as an alternate version of Sonic's home planet in another dimension, with much less advanced technology. Much like in the Anime it is based off of, Chris rescues Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic X comics) from drowning and becomes friends with him, Miles "Tails" Prower (Sonic X comics), Amy Rose (Sonic X comics), Knuckles the Echidna (Sonic X comics), and Cream the Rabbit (Sonic X comics) and gives them a place to live on this new world (minus Knuckles who goes off to do his own thing). Chris very much like Miles "Tails" Prower (Sonic X comics) looks up to Sonic like an older brother figure and is always willing to do whatever he can to help his new-found friends thwart the plans of Doctor Eggman (Sonic X comics).
Chris in this continuity is still saddened whenever his parents aren't able to spend time with him however unlike Christopher Thorndyke from the Anime this Chris starts out a bit more mature in certain aspects and is able to accept his parents absence in a slightly more mature way. He isn't shown to have as many deep psychological rooted issues with his parents absence as much as his Anime counterpart (whether or not this is due to the comics not following the Anime's story fully or an actual sign of more maturity from the start is unknown.)
