— Chocola, Sonic the Hedgehog #18
Chocola is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. He is a Chao and the twin brother of Cheese. He lives with his brother, Cream, Vanilla and Gemerl in Floral Forest Village. He has currently been turned into a Zombot after being infected by the Metal Virus.
Chocola is almost identical to Cheese, differing only in coloration. Like most other Chao, he has a drop-shaped head with yellow tips on his arms, legs and the top of his head, and has a yellow pompom above him and pink butterfly-like wings. Unlike Cheese, however, Chocola has brown skin where Cheese has light blue. He also wears a bowtie that is the same shade of blue as Cheese's skin.
Floral Forest Village was soon invaded by Dr. Eggman in his new flying fortress, the Faceship. With it, Dr. Eggman poured a large batch of the Metal Virus into the village, creating several Zombots. During the attack, Chocola helped Vanilla barricade their house from the inside. Vanilla then told Cream to stay inside, but Cream wished to aid the villagers as she had Cheese by her side, just as Vanilla had Chocola. Vanilla, however, convinced the duo to stay with her.
Eventually, Chocola, Cheese and Vanilla were surrounded by Zombots inside their house. After Cheese got caught by a Zombot when attacking it, Chocola, in an attempt to help his brother, attacked the Zombot too, only to get grabbed by it. Due to having touched the Zombot, the duo soon became Zombots themselves and turned their attention to Cream and Vanilla. Fortunately, Sonic arrived and helped Cream and Vanilla evacuate their house. Chocola tried afterward to attack Sonic, but Gemerl got in the way. Sonic then trapped Chocola and Cheese inside glass jars to prevent them from posing a larger threat due to their flight abilities. Unbeknownst to Sonic though, Chocola and Cheese began to break out while he was preoccupied.
Powers and abilities
- Chocola's name and color are a reference to chocolate, keeping in line with Cream, Vanilla and Cheese's names which are all based on food products.
