Chemical Plant Zone (Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog)

Template:Location The Chemical Plant Zone is a location that appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. It is an industrialized and deadly area on Mobius filled with toxic chemicals.

Description

The Chemical Plant Zone is an outlined city-like area located in a grey, barren, and lifeless expanse. The place is mainly made up of tall red, blue and grey buildings and is highly industrialized, featuring giant pipelines that wind through the Zone, smokestacks of different sizes and shapes, and all kinds of signs either warning about toxics or advertise gasoline stations.

The Chemical Plant Zone has no normal roads to speak of. Instead, the giant pipelines leading through the Zone serves as the location's paths, where travelers must drive on top of them. On the ground there are also several cracks-like pools filled with green-yellow toxics that can dissolve an entire racing car in all little over elven seconds.

History

Having entered the Mobius 5000 against Dr. Robotnik's Race Bots, Sonic, Tails and Professor Caninestein entered the Chemical Plant Zone after passing the race's halfway point, where they took the lead over Ex-Moto and Speedo. There, Scratch and Grounder tried to sabotage Sonic's race car when he went in for the only pit stop for 100 miles by replacing its engine with a time bomb. However, Scratch mistook Grounder for the bomb and place him as the engine in the race car. After Sonic and his team then drove away to rejoin the race, the bomb detonated shortly after, destroying the pit stop and injuring Scratch.

Back in the race, Sonic's team and Speedo were neck-at-neck on the Chemical Plant Zone's paths until Speedo knocked the heroes into a pool of toxic chemicals with sharp tire spikes. Before the toxicants could dissolve the car though, Sonic spun them out of the pool and back into the race while slicing Speedo in half. Robotnik then ordered Ex-Moto to focus on winning the race, and Sonic's team and Ex-Moto raced each other out of the Chemical Zone and into the Casino Zone.

• The location is based of the Zone of the same name from the Sega Mega Drive video game Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
