Maybe so, but the Chaotix Detective Agency never does a half-baked job!

Vector the Crocodile, Sonic the Hedgehog #5

The Chaotix Detective Agency[1] is an organization that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. It is a detective agency run by a team of crack detectives for hire―the Chaotix.

History

Past

After the Eggman War ended, the Chaotix Detective Agency took up a case: finding Dr. Eggman, who had disappeared after the war. After finding nothing in Imperial City, the Chaotix tracked down Orbot and Cubot in hopes that they knew something about Eggman. However, neither the duo or Eggman's computer could tell them anything. The Chaotix would afterward check Eggman's other bases, including the one in Mystic Jungle, but found nothing. Eventually though, the Chaotix found Eggman in a village after receiving an anonymous tip. However, the doctor seemed to have amnesia, which had led to him becoming a productive member of the village. The Chaotix thus spent the next few days interrogating and observing Eggman. Upon concluding that his amnesia was legit however, the Chaotix faced a dilemma: whether or not it was right to penalize Eggman now that he was a good man with no recollection of his evil deeds.[1]

The Fate of Dr. Eggman

To help them decide on what to do with Eggman, the Chaotix brought in Sonic. While discussing the matter with Sonic and the village's head however, a horde of Badniks showed up. The Chaotix aided in fighting the robots, which they initially suspected Eggman was behind. After beating the Badniks however, the Chaotix were convinced by Sonic that Eggman was indeed a changed man who wanted nothing to do with his old robots. As such, the Chaotix Detective Agency decided to leave Eggman to his new life, closing the case.[1] It was soon after revealed however, that the Chaotix Detective Agency's investigation had been managed from the shadows by Rouge in order to ensure the Chaotix's welfare. Nonetheless, she counted the Chaotix Detective Agency's investigation as their gig, meaning the Chaotix got to keep the finders fee.[2]

Out of the Blue

Chaotix31

The Chaotix are swamped with work, from Sonic the Hedgehog #31.

Some time later, the Chaotix became swamped with work on missing persons cases in the aftermath of the Metal Virus crisis. Cream, Vanilla, Cheese, Chocola and Gemerl came by to gift the trio with treats for their hard work. Despite the kind gestures, the Chaotix had no time for it as they did not even have time to properly work. Vanilla took it upon herself to take over for the detectives; she planned to handle calls with Cream and update the trio as Gemerl processed information of the missing people. Realizing they could go do their thing, the Chaotix set off to find the missing people.[3]

Policy

The Chaotix Detective Agency is a business that see to that their cases are always seen through to the end.[1]
