Chaos powers[1] or Chaos Actions,[2] are abilities to manipulate chaos energy in various ways. The Chaos powers are used by multiple characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, and their use differs between the different canons. The most frequent user of Chaos powers is Shadow the Hedgehog.

List of chaos energy based techniques

Arrow of Light Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) Only usable in Super State, the user charges forward to the enemy at high speed. A fully charged version allows the user to move at a faster speed and immerses them in a blue light. Similar to, if not the same, as the super sonic boost. Super Sonic
Arrow of Light
Spear of Light Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) An augmented version of Chaos Lance only usable whilst in Super State. The user fires red bolts of energy which home into the opponent. A fully charged Spear of Light can fire eight bolts simultaneously in a circular pattern, and does more damage. Super Shadow

Archie Comics

Various other Chaos Powers variations have appeared in the Archie Comics, where a wider array of characters possess the capacity to utilize chaos energy. At their most basic, these techniques include lightning bolts, force fields and teleportation. More advanced wielders, such as Mammoth Mogul or Enerjak can achieve mind control and molecular dissection. The teleportation ability appears to be a subtly different form of Chaos Control.

All Chaos Powers in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series come from the greatest power in the universe, the Chaos Force, a mystical energy field that serves as wellspring for all Chaos powers.

Sonic X

In Sonic X, a few well-known Chaos Powers made their appearances, such as Chaos Control and Chaos Spear. Such moves was mainly used by Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog and their super transformation forms (Super Sonic and Super Shadow respectively).

In episode 78, Super Sonic and Super Shadow displayed a unique technique called "Chaos Regeneration" (Japanese version only, the English version never mentioned the name) to save Cosmo, their plant-type anthropomorphic ally, from certain death. As demonstrated in the episode, it is not quite as effective as its title would suggest, because all they managed to produce from their efforts was a small seed.
