The Chaos Lance is similar to the Chaos Spear but packs much greater power. When performing it, Shadow swings his right arm in midair and fires a long red energy bolt at his opponents that explodes upon impact.
In gameplay, unlike the Chaos Spear, the Chaos Lance can deal damage to enemies and paralyze at the same time. It can also be charged to deal more damage, enough to take down a Golem with one shot. However, it still cannot affect enemies that have their guard up like the Golem and Egg Guardian. Additionally, it has a slightly lower range than the Chaos Spear, and even if fully charged, it will not split into two spears for enemies too close to Shadow.
For the player to use Chaos Lance, they must have obtained Memory Shard (red), and activated the second level of the Chaos Boost form. To perform it in gameplay, the player has to press / (or hold to charge them) in midair while Shadow is using Chaos Boost at level two. In the battle with Solaris, Super Shadow can also perform Chaos Lances as the weakened version of his Spear of Light, though they cannot affect Solaris.
The Spear of Light is a far a more powerful version of the Chaos Lance that can only be used by Super Shadow during the battle with Solaris. When using it, Super Shadow releases nine Chaos Lances simultaneously in a circular pattern during a burst of Chaos Emerald energy, which will then automatically home onto Solaris with enough force to harm him.
Trivia
The Chaos Lance itself, strangely enough, uses sound effects similar to the firing sound of the Shadow Rifle from Shadow the Hedgehog.
