The Chaos Emerald Siphon[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. It a type of energy-siphoning device originally created by Dr. Eggman for the purpose of directing the power of the Chaos Emeralds. They were later repurposed by Zavok into harnesses that let the Deadly Six empower themselves with the Chaos Emeralds.
Description[]
Appearance[]
The individual Chaos Emerald Siphon is a round black disk with circuits across its surface and a recess in its center that a Chaos Emerald can fit into. It also has three gray bendable prongs protruding from the sides in a triangle shape for attaching the Chaos Emerald Siphon to the body.
Powers and traits[]
The Chaos Emerald Siphons are able to hold Chaos Emeralds and directly draw out their mystical energies to their intended purpose. While originally designed to direct the Emeralds' energies in order to power machines, the Chaos Emerald Siphons can also be used to directly infuse an organic being with the Chaos Emeralds' energies when worn, resulting in greatly exaggerated abilities.[2]
History[]
Infection[]

The power generator with the Chaos Energy Siphons equipped, from Sonic the Hedgehog #16.
Originally parts of Dr. Eggman's Faceship's power generator, the Chaos Emerald Siphons served as sockets for each of the seven Chaos Emeralds, safely siphoning the energy needed to power the Faceship from the Chaos Emerald.[3]
All or Nothing[]
After the Deadly Six took over the Faceship, Zavok tore one of the Chaos Emerald Siphons and its Chaos Emerald out. Fashioning it into a harness, Zavok equipped it to himself, greatly amplifying his electromagnetic powers. Having affirmed the Chaos Emeralds' ability to empower Zeti, Zavok gave each member of the Deadly Six their own Chaos Emerald Siphon and Chaos Emerald to wear. The Deadly Six then scattered around Earth to use their enhanced powers to command the scrambling Zombot hordes and use them to spread the Metal Virus across the world.[2]

Thanks to the Chaos Emerald Siphons and their Chaos Emeralds, each member of the Deadly Six were able to command thousands of Zombots and spread the Metal Virus everywhere they went.[2] Eventually though, Sonic's friends and allies confronted Zazz, Zomom, Master Zik, Zeena and Zor in their outposts to take their Chaos Emeralds from their Chaos Emerald Siphons.[4] One by one, the Deadly Six lost their Chaos Emeralds; Zeena lost her Emerald to Cream and Gemerl;[5] Zomom got his Emerald taken after Amy and Tails trapped him;[5] Zor dropped his Emerald when Whisper destroyed his Chaos Emerald Siphon;[6] Zazz had his Emerald swiped by Espio;[6] and Master Zik got robbed of his Chaos Emerald by the Babylon Rogues.[6] When the Faceship soon after crashed with Zavok onboard after Rouge stole the ship's Chaos Emerald from its Chaos Emerald Siphon, Zavok emerged from the rubble and used his Chaos Emerald Siphon and Chaos Emerald to become Giant Zavok for an attack on Angel Island.[6] Regardless, Sonic made it to Zavok's Chaos Emerald Siphon and got its Chaos Emerald lodged free in time to save himself and the world from the Metal Virus.[7]
Zeti Hunt![]
Knowing they would eventually deal with the Deadly Six, Tails would reverse-engineer the Chaos Emerald Siphon in order to create the Zeti Zappers, devices that could turn a Zeti's electromagnetic powers against them.[1]
