The Chaos Emeralds[1] are objects mentioned in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by IDW Publishing. They are seven gemstones from Sonic's world with ties to the Master Emerald[2] that hold incredible power.
Description
Powers and traits
Possessing immense power, the Chaos Emeralds have the same properties as the Sol Emeralds, except that they are not "fiery".[1] Harnessing all seven Chaos Emeralds will bestow a person with a Super State, a form that grants increased innate talents and other powers.[2][3]
History
Past
Sonic and Dr. Eggman have had numerous past encounters that involved them battling for possession of the Chaos Emeralds.[4] The Emeralds have also been used by Sonic to achieve his Super State.[2]
Fallout and The Fate of Dr. Eggman
After the Eggman Empire-Resistance war, Sonic used the Chaos Emeralds as base examples for a comparison to the Sol Emeralds when he explained the latter to Tangle.[1] Later, after Neo Metal Sonic took control of Angel Island and the Master Emerald, the robot recollected how the Master Emerald can neutralize the Chaos Emeralds and dared Sonic to try and stop him with them.[2]
Trivia
- The Chaos Emeralds are based on the objects of the same name from the Sonic the Hedgehog video games.
