Chao breeding is the process of two Chao creating a Chao Egg in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2.
In order to breed Chao, both Chao must be an adult, and their desire to mate must be sufficiently high enough in order to do so. When this value is high enough, the Chao will sit happily sit down and a bed of flowers will surround it. If another Chao with a sufficiently high value is nearby, and the player's Chao Gardens are not full, the other Chao will walk over and the two will perform a small dance before an egg appears from where they were standing.
The resulting Chao that hatches from the egg will inherit either parents' appearance. Breeding Chao is primarily done to give uniquely colored Chao and Chao with higher letter grades, which influences the stat growth upon a level up.
Chao can only breed once per lifetime, but the use of a Heart Fruit will allow them to immediately breed again.
