The Chao Kindergarten is a place where the player can access various facilities related to Chao. It appears in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

Locations[]

Black Market[]

Main article: Black Market

The Black Market is a place where items for Chao can be bought, including fruit, masks, and eggs. The Black Market is run by a Chao. Rarer items such as the Shiny Red egg, which hatches a Chao in a shiny red color which can be purchased by collecting more emblems.

Classroom[]

The Chao Classroom is a place where Chao are taught various subjects. These include singing, dancing, drawing, and playing musical instruments. The player can leave up to four Chao as they learn the subject currently being taught in class (though they cannot be picked up until their class finishes).

Principal's room[]

The Principal's Office is where the player can access a menu of Help/Tips regarding the Chao Kindergarten and Chao raising in general.

Health Center[]

The Doctor's Office is where a Chao can be checked up for its health. The player can check their carried Chao's favorite food, the number of awards they have received, times they have transformed (reincarnated), and stats.

Fortune-Telling House[]

The Chao Fortune Teller is a psychic Chao who gives the Chao currently being carried a name. The player can also choose to name their own Chao here if they dislike the fortune teller's names.

Trivia[]

  • Tails and Dr. Eggman do not use their mechs when inside the Chao Kindergarten.
  • Several of the Fortune Teller's names reference various people and studios within Sega at the time. These names are always in all capital letters.
    • HITM refers to Hitmaker.
    • NAGOSHI likely refers to Toshihiro Nagoshi, then-president of Amusement Vision and current head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
    • OVER could refer to Overworks.
    • ROSSO refers to Sega Rosso.
    • SMILEB refers to Smilebit.
    • WOW refers to WOW Entertainment.
    • There are three all-caps names that do not seem to correlate to any particular person or studio inside Sega: "DEJIME", "SOUL", and "YS".
