- Not to be confused with Operation: Catfish from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Catfish (キャットフィッシュ[1] Kyattofisshu?) is a character that appears in the Sonic Prime television series. He is an alternate version of Big the Cat from the world of No Place who him and his best friend Froggy are part of the The Kraken's crew to protect the seas.
Appearance[]
Catfish is a doppelganger of his mainstream counterpart. As such, he is a very large and burly anthropomorphic cat with the majority of his body covered in purple fur with dark violet stripes running up his arms and long tail with the end frayed. His feet are covered in dark violet fur up to his ankles as well as the outer tips of his large triangular ears and around his eyes. He possesses white fur that covers his torso, upper chest and muzzle protruding outwards, and inner ears. He also has black eyes with pale yellow sclera, and a small black nose.
For stereotypical pirate attire, he wears a black eyepatch, a black top hat adorned with a golden band, a red feather and a skeletal fish graphic, and black gloves with gold on the knuckles and lining the cuffs. He also wears a brown belt with a gold buckle accompanied by a red sash, and black shoes with tan soles and straps.
History[]
TV series[]
Past[]
Sometime before the Paradox Prism incident, Catfish joined Knuckles the Dread and his crew aboard the Angel's Voyage.
Season one[]
Catfish is first seen sleeping on the ship. Later, he can be seen cooking a coconut. When Dread welcomes Sonic to the ship, Catfish throws confetti at him from a cannon. Froggy is Catfish's best friend, and they often play music together for their crew. When Dread's old crew attack the ship, Catfish is scared to fight back at first. But after seeing Sonic in action, he is inspired and decides to help him. Later on, the ship is attacked by Rusty Rose and her army of Eggforcers onboard the Kraken. Catfish obeys his captain and does everything he can to help. During the race to the Shard, he works on the cannons alongside Batten and Black Rose. Accidentally, he launches a seadog instead of a cannon ball. This proves to be a good accident, as the Eggforcers have trouble standing up due to the seadog's sauce, and they can't fire at it. Catfish is later seen fighting some Eggforcers himself, proving himself as a good addition to the team.
Season two[]
When the Chaos Council attacks No Place, Catfish and the rest of the crew fight back. Once again, he is able to show his strength in combat. Later, he is shocked when Dread tells the crew that Sonic betrayed them. Catfish is able to locate Sonic and shoots a laser near him. Sonic is surprised even Catfish believes Dread's lies. After a while, the conflict is over and the crew trust Sonic again.
Some days later, Catfish is shocked and scared when some buildings start appearing in No Place. Sonic pays a visit along with Nine. Catfish spends his time sleeping, until he joins forces with Batten to fight against the Council once again via firing rockets at the ship of Doctor Babble and Doctor Don't.
Season three[]
When No Place starts to collapse, Catfish, Batten and Sails can't escape from it. Sonic arrives on the Kraken alongside the three Roses. He tells everyone to get inside the ship. Catfish is too scared to make the big jump. His friend Froggy does it and waits for his friend. Encouraged by Sonic, Catfish makes the jump and gets on the ship. After a tumultuous battle with Grim Birds, the rescue mission is a success. Catfish joins all the others in the Yoke.
Catfish and the rest of Sonic's friends go to The Grim to protect him from Nine. Catfish follows Rebel's plan and tries to reach Nine's Citadel alongside Dread, Batten and Jack. They don't get very far, as they are soon intercepted by Grim Troopers. Froggy notices Grim Sonic is about to Spin Dash at Sonic, so he jumps and blocks the attack. Sonic and Dread rush to him, but are weirded out that Catfish had a sudden change of personality. After the impact of the Spin Dash, Catfish had seemingly lost all his memories, including his own name. His personally had completely changed to being a well mannered, stereotypical British man. This is not resolved on-screen.
When Nine creates Grim Big, Catfish and Denizen 1998 hide from it in fear. When the battle is finally over, Catfish and the rest confront Nine in his lab, before saying goodbye to Sonic and Shadow, who depart for the Green Hill Gateway after Sonic gave up his Prism Energy to stabilise the Paradox Prism which Nine used to restore the other Shatterspaces.
Personality[]
Like the rest of the Angel's Voyage crew, Catfish talks using stereotypical pirate lingo and enjoys pirating. Catfish is shown to be quite upbeat and welcoming, judging by his interactions with Sonic. He is also very selfless, willing to take a blow from a Sonic Trooper in order to save Sonic. Catfish also seems a bit lazy, as shown when he was sleeping during the day. Catfish shows loyalty to whoever his current captain is, though his loyalty has limits, and he will demand that another crewman be made captain if they show themselves to be a superior leader. Catfish is also shown to have a fear of making big jumps.
