Cassia the Pronghorn is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-off comic series published by Archie Comics. In the Post-Super Genesis Wave timeline, she is an anthropomorphic pronghorn, who has been subjugated to heavy Cyberization, and the sister of Clove. Along with her sister, she is a regional Egg Boss of a division of the Egg Army stationed in an unknown sector of the planet.

Concept and Creation

Cassia's initial designs were created by Aleah Baker, which was then elaborated on by Evan Stanley. One color scheme she was given during the development was the colors based on a young Pronghorn.[1]

Stanley also provided a backstory idea for Cassia, where she had a hypersensitivity disorder that gave her debilitating allergies. As such, her eyes and respiratory system were replaced with cybernetics, giving her super-vision and smell, as well as immunity to toxic gases. Additionally, her tonfas would also work as spray-like dispensers containing cinnamon extract in an aerosol form, allowing her to spray her opponents in battle.[1] However, Ian Flynn has confirmed that this backstory is not canon.[2]

History

At some point, Cassia received mechanical parts for her health. While they did make Cassia feel better, they not easy her sister's worries.[3]

Cassia and Clove were in charge of the operations at Crystal Cave where they had discovered a Chaos Emerald hidden deep inside and tried to obtain it.[3] However, the excavation was put on hold when the cave's terrain proved too dangerous.[4] After taking a leave of absence however, Cassia and Clove returned to find the mine having been attacked and their Badnik workers destroyed. Annoyed over the badniks' ineffectiveness, Cassia wished she had been to stop the intruders while brushing off Clove's concerns for her well-being over that idea. Investing the heist to see if the thieves got away with the Emerald, Cassia and Clove checked the security system's footage and saw the thieves were Miles "Tails" Prower, Sally Acorn, Antoine D'Coolette.[3]

Appearance

Cassia is an anthropomorphic pronghorn and slightly shorter than Clove. Unlike her sister, Cassia appears completely robotic. She has a round head in a green hue with slightly large and curved ears on top, a silver muzzle with a short snout and disks on her jaws, small black horns on her forehead, and a pompadour-hairstyle shaped like a cinnamon roll in a dark green hue. Her eyes have black sclera and yellow pupils which can mimic eyelids. She wears a grey Eggman Empire-styled uniform with black leggings. She also has gray gloves and boots, each with yellow collars around the cuffs.

Personality

Compared to her sister, Cassia is more vocal, hot-tempered and less mature, openly expressing her dislikes of others, especially with names, and tireness over her sister's worries.[3]

Powers and Abilities

Weapons

Cassia wields a pair of gray and thick tofans which she carries in a belt on her back.[3] Her proficiency with them is unknown.

Relationships

Clove

Clove is Cassia's sister. She has a very typical sister relationship with her and is very annoyed of the way Clove continues to remain concerned about her well-being, even after she received her cybernetics.[3]
