Casino Night (カジノナイト Kajino Naito?), also known as Casino Night Zone (カジノナイトゾーン Kajino Naito Zōn?), is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a casino-themed city located on West Side Island.
Description[]
Casino Night is a city located on West Side Island. Described as "the city of neon and pinball",[1] it is known for its gigantic gambling machines and brilliant platforms. Slot machines and neon signs are often seen throughout the city. Golden statues and elevators are also featured here.
History[]
Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]
In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Dr. Robotnik invaded West Side Island and its regions, including Casino Night, seeking the seven Chaos Emeralds hidden somewhere on the island. Casino Night would later be the fourth Zone Sonic and Tails visited during their mission to stop the doctor's plans. Eventually, the doctor battled the heroes with his Egg Claw, but was defeated, thus forcing him to flee.
Sonic the Fighters[]
In Sonic the Fighters, Casino Night was the arena where the hero contestant fought Fang the Sniper (or a clone of himself made by Dr. Robotnik if the player is playing as him). After the contestant defeated their opponent, they gained the magenta Chaos Emerald.
Sonic Generations[]
In the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, an incarnation of Casino Night from somewhere in spacetime got transported to White Space where it was drained of color and life.
Casino Night was the second area Modern and Classic Sonic paid a visit to after ending up in White Space. By speeding through this location, the Sonics were able to fix space, thereby restoring the area from its lifeless state. Later, Classic Sonic raced against Metal Sonic and got a Chaos Emerald after winning. When the Time Eater later got destroyed, Casino Night was seemingly returned to its rightful place.
Other game appearances[]
Sonic Drift 2[]
In Sonic Drift 2, Casino Night is the fourth track of the Purple Chaos GP, coming after Dark Valley 1 and before Desert Road 1. The player has to complete three laps of the track to finish, and the fastest racer gets a Chaos Emerald.
Casino Night's track is littered with oddities; mini ramps that throw one up in the air, springs that are actually Bumpers, and Reverse power-ups. Most of the time, there is at least land on either side of the track, although there is one section where this is replaced by empty space which is best avoided falling into.
Sonic Generations (console/PC)[]
In the console/PC version of Sonic Generations, Casino Night appears as a DLC for the game. Unlike its Nintendo 3DS version counterpart, this version of the stage is a Pinball-styled stage, full of secrets. The main goal of it is to collect as many Rings as possible, which can be obtained from the local slot machine.

Animation[]
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog[]
In the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series, Casino Night Zone was an oversized casino owned by Dr. Robotnik, which was hooked up to a CPU designed to force every machine in the house to lose no matter what, and turn the mobians into his own personal slaves. However, when Sonic reprogrammed the unit, this caused the people inside to win real money (due to Grounder not wanting to welsh on a bet) and bankrupted the casino.
Sonic Boom[]
In the Sonic Boom franchise, Casino Night Zone is a location on earth that was once visited by Dr. Eggman, although he does not remember what he did there.
Books and comics[]
Sonic the Hedgehog (manga)[]
Archie Comics[]
In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Casino Night Zone was originally a casino built by Dr. Robotnik on Mobius, although it was destroyed by Sonic. It was later re-built by the doctor, only to be abandoned. Two years later, Mammoth Mogul took over management of the Casino Night Zone.
When the Super Genesis Wave re-wrote history, Casino Night Zone appeared as a permanent Zone located on Westside Island, with its past being virtually identical to its game counterpart's. It is currently owned by Breeze Media.
Sonic the Comic[]
In the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions, the Casino Night Zone is one of the many Zones on Mobius. It is a large, urban region, devoted entirely to the leisure industry (especially casinos). At first, the Zone was ruled by Dr. Ivo Robotnik, but the money-greedy Max Gamble eventually became its de-factor administrator. Since its introduction, it has held a strong element of illegal activities.
