Similar to other areas within the [[Mystic Jungle]], Casino Forest is set in a brown mountainous region at night during a full moon. It should be noted that the mountains in this stage are rather blocky, much like in [[Green Hill Zone|Green Hill]]. In the background, one can see lush tropical trees with round tree crowns that grow everywhere, alongside grass and fern-like bushes. Vines also hang from the trees, and a river floats through the region. Also found in Casino Forest are ancient ruins with yellow-glowing runes/murals. The background features numerous ancient temples, road gates, bridges across the aforementioned river, and pillars, whereas the foreground where the main gameplay takes place is set entirely inside the rocky ruins. Once a great city, these ruins are now both overgrown with plants and lit up by torches.

Classic Sonic enters the Casino Forest, ancient ruins currently being converted to a casino by Eggman. But it's not all fun and games as perilous traps line the ancient facades.

— Trailer description[1]

Casino Forest (カジノフォレスト Kajinoforesuto?) is the thirteenth stage in Sonic Forces, and the fourth stage in the game to be played as Classic Sonic.

Located in the Mystic Jungle, this previously unspoiled wilderness sporting the remnants of an ancient civilization is now having its ruins converted into a casino by Dr. Eggman.[1] During the events of the game, Miles "Tails" Prower and Classic Sonic came to Casino Forest to look for Sonic the Hedgehog.

Description

Similar to the other areas within the Mystic Jungle, Casino Forest is set in a brown mountainous region at night during a full moon. It should be noted that the mountains in this stage are rather blocky, much like in Green Hill. In the background, one can see that the area is covered in lush tropical trees with round tree crowns, along with grass and fern-like bushes. Vines also hang from the trees, and a river floats through the region.

Also found in Casino Forest are ancient ruins with yellow-glowing runes/murals. The background features numerous ancient temples, road gates, bridges across the aforementioned river, and pillars. Meanwhile, the foreground, where the main gameplay takes place, is set entirely inside the rocky ruins. Being rather old, these ruins are currently overgrown with plants. They are also lit up by torches.

As a result of Dr. Eggman's actions, the majority of the ruins have been converted into casinos. Numerous neon signs in different shapes and colors have been added to the ruins, and the ancient temples in the background have been turned into dazzling neon palaces. Ancient pillars have similarly been turned into palm-shaped street lights.

Story

Casino Forest was originally an ancient ruin. After Dr. Eggman settled in Mystic Jungle though, he began construction on the area to turn it into a casino.[1]

Several months later, Tails and Classic Sonic came to Casino Forest to find Sonic the Hedgehog and tell him about Eggman's plan for wiping out the Resistance after overhearing Eggman and Infinite mention Sonic was still alive and Infinite had fought him in Mystic Jungle. While Classic Sonic searched Casino Forest for Sonic, Tails provided him with leads on where to look over the radio. By the time they reach the center of Casino Forest however, the duo finds nobody, although Tails remains confident that Sonic was somewhere nearby.

Gameplay

The majority of Casino Forest revolves around pinball mechanics, with several sections of the stage having been designed like pinball tables. For launching the playable characters upward in such sections are different sets of green flippers that either float in midair or are attached to the walls. There is as well a purple variety of flippers that sit vertically on the ground; these flippers move automatically when touched. There are also Spring Catapults for granting a boost of speed in certain directions, slot machines for earning Rings, and red-yellow rings arranged in cylinders that grant several thousand points when passing through them.

Casino Forest is also filled with all kinds of bumper gimmicks. There are yellow and purple Bumpers, Triangle Bumpers in blue, red and yellow, Hexagonal Bumpers, and Drop Targets. Whenever the player hits one of these gimmicks, they are awarded with five hundred points.

Aside from pinball-themed elements, the stage also has moving ruin blocks that form staircases for the player to climb, iron balls that move around, and high-speed warp tubes.

Being a Classic Sonic stage, Casino Forest is played entirely from a 2.5D perspective, and include Item Boxes for Classic Sonic to utilize.

Overview

When beginning Casino Forest, the player must move forward on the path until they hit a Spring Catapult. The player will afterward arrive in a pinball table arena. Here, the player can either take the route above or drop down the pinball drain in the arena and follow an underground path. Regardless, the underground path will eventually join up with the upper route. In the vicinity of where the roads join up, the player can use a flipper just before the first Star Post to reach another path that leads over the next hill. The player can also reach the next stretch of the path by following the route on the right of the pit with the Bumpers. After being shot forward by this gimmick, the player will arrive in a section with a network of pinball tables, underground tunnels and high routes. Eventually though, the multitude of paths will merge together just before the player encounters another Spring Catapult. This one will shoot Classic Sonic through a loop that leads to the Goal Plate, which lies in front of a neon palace.
