The battle arena has three rows of elevated platforms including the ground with smaller platforms mounted on the walls. Johnny's attacks include tilting his head on and charging at the player. Whisker's attacks include a ground pound that emits a shockwave upon landing which can be avoided by jumping, shooting his arms off like rockets that arc around and return to him and breathing out a powerful blast of flames that can affect either reach a small distance in front of him or the entire platform range. The player can damage either Whisker or Johnny by simply jumping into them with Spin Jump/Axel Jump.
Whisker and Johnny have a combination attack which is indicated if Whisker stands still and blocks all the player's attacks. After a short while, Johnny charges towards Whisker who then throws Johnny with a lot of force such that he accelerates around the arena at high speeds. A spin of any sort is required to repel this. In addition to the robots' attacks, the player must be careful of a spiked wheel that appears on the ground during the fight. After a short delay, it will sweep along the platform length back and forth at fast speeds, damaging the player on contact. After intervals, the wheel will spawn at the next platform above and will repeat its movement (after it finishes its cycle with the top-most platform it will return to the ground level). The player should fight Whisker and Johnny on platforms that do not have a spiked wheel moving along them. The fight ends once the player depletes the health gauges of both Whisker and Johnny.
In normal difficulty, after a certain point in the fight, two platform rows will each have a spiked wheel moving along them at the same time.
Alongside with the Ghost Titan, this is the only boss fight in Sonic Rush Adventure which the boss(es) will never regenerate health at any point during the fight.
