Captain Rescue is a character that appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. He is a retired, overweight raccoon superhero, who is best known for his arsenal of gadgets summoned from his utility belt.
In days long past, Captain Rescue was one of Mobius' greatest heroes, operating as a cape-and-costume superhero in the time before Dr. Robotnik and his Badniks. He appeared to have retired some time before Robotnik began his domination of the planet, being largely unfamiliar with the domineering despot.
Captain Rescue and Sonic have a not-so-pleasant first encounter, the latter calling him an "old timer" when the former offered his help. He was tricked by Dr. Robotnik into showing up Sonic, only to find out too late that he was an accomplice in trapping the hedgehog. Crestfallen and giving up, it took Tails' encouraging words for him to once more to be the hero he always was, before helping to rescue Sonic and stop Robotnik's latest scheme.
Captain Rescue is intelligent, brave and tries his best to help others, even if it does not turn out well. He is however exceptionally gullible and prone to emotional manipulation.
Powers and abilities
In his prime, Captain Rescue had a godly physique with overly developed muscles and heculian strength to match. He seemed to possess a number of natural superpowers, such as super strength and the ability to fly. He augmented these natural abilities with a number of multipurpose gadgets, which come from his utility belt. Many of his gadgets include a boomerang, a bell, and a grapple.
In his retirement and inactivity, Captain Rescue became visibly overweight, barely able to squeeze into his patched-up superhero costume anymore, though retaining his muscle build. This seems to have hindered his powers of flight, as his attempts to do so are seen always failing. Additionally, his gadgets have become largely nonfuctional or prone to malfunction, which constantly backfire on him and anybody nearby.
