Shadow's heavy attack. Using Chaos Control, he grinds his fists to distort space, to attack and knock opponents away.

— Info, Sonic Battle[1]

C. Nightmare (カオスナイトメア Kaosu Naitomea?, lit. "Chaos Nightmare") is a chaos power used primarily by Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic Battle. In the game, it serves as Shadow's Heavy Attack.

Description[]

When performing C. Nightmare, the user grinds both his fists at his side while briefly ascending into the air. While grinding his fists, the user invokes Chaos Control and distorts space around both his fists, creating small violet and purple pulsating spheres around each fist that repels enemies.

In gameplay, the C. Nightmare knocks opponents away when it makes a clean hit and allows the player to case the opponents for a Pursuit Attack. It is among the most powerful Heavy Attacks in Sonic Battle, but is plauged by some slow startup; Shadow however naturally has the Shadow B. Kick to help prop up the attack with a small launch.

Unlike other Heavy Attacks, performing the chasing leap off of connecting with it will cause the user to warp through the air as they leap.

Emerl can randomly obtain this skill after participating in a fight with Shadow, whether it be with or against him. He can also use it at the end of a Shadow Combo.

Trivia[]

  • Via the Japanese name, the English localization shortens the name due to not enough space on the card's text box.
  • When Chaos Nightmare is blocked, the spheres count as separate sprite graphics apart from the user, though they still remain the proximity of the user's fists for its duration.
  • Super Baby 2's Machine Gun Rush in Dragon Ball FighterZ is similar to this attack.
