The Buzz Saw is an enemy that appears in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. It is a mass-produced model of Destruction Troops created by Lyric the Last Ancient.
Appearance
The Buzz Saws are red snail-like robots. Their body consists of a large red eye with a slit-like pupil and green sclera, which has thick plating for eyelids, especially on top. They also have two round saw blade of steel with yellow and cyan outlines on the sides as wheels, and a thick shell covering their rear and some of the front.
Overview
Five millennia ago, the Buzz Saws were made by Lyric the Last Ancient in the Robot Facility to help him destroy the earth's lifeforms and conquer it.[1] During an attack on the remaining Ancients however, the Buzz Saws were shut down when Lyric got imprisoned.[1][2] In the present, they were recovered by Lyric after he was freed to search for the Crystal Shards as well.
The Buzz Saws are only encountered in Seaside Beach. In gameplay, they usually move back and forth idly. When they spot the player however, they will rev up and attempt to charge into the characters. Sometimes, they are equipped with purple shields that protect them from harm, which can be removed with the Enerbeam. Buzz Saws' destruction are also only temporary as new ones will later respawn to take their place. Additionally, the fifth Toy the player purchases from Q-N-C's Toy Shop will be a Buzz Saw figurine.
After Team Sonic and Shadow defeated Lyric, the Buzz Saws were stopped once more.
Personality
At their core, the Buzz Saws are mindless and silent drones unwaveringly loyal to Lyric the Last Ancient, having been programmed to obey his every command.[1]
Powers and abilities
The Buzz Saws are equipped with saw blades sharp enough to cut a person in half. They usually use them to mow down their targets.
Trivia
- The Buzz Saws' abilities and attack patterns are virtually identical to the Scuttles'.
