Buster busted!

— The notification that the player has defeated a Buster, Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball

The Buster, also called the Forebot,[1] is an enemy that appears in both versions of Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball. It is a Badnik model created by Dr. Robotnik.

Appearance

Busters bear a loose resemblance to a type of feline animal with a humanoid shape. They have dark orange muzzles and a small red nose, while the rest of their bodies are covered in gray metal, except for the hands, which are yellow. They also wear yellow goggles with blue lenses and have cyan headpieces and spine plates, with a large propeller attached on top of their headpiece. Also, the Busters seem to have a thin tail.

Overview

The Busters only appear normally in The Machine and in the 8-bit version's Final Showdown, where they mainly serve as obstacles when the player tries to ascend the hall, as hitting a Buster will make Sonic lose his momentum. In gameplay, the Busters appear in the left and right hall of The Machine where they fly around in certain patterns; in the left hall, they fly up and down in a linear pattern, while in the right hall, they will fly left and right. Additionally, in the lower part of the The Machine, Busters (or Krondors) block the small opening of the rotating transport tube.

The Busters also appear during the confrontation with the Veg-O Machine. Here, the machine will turn the animals coming from the pipes into Busters, Krondors and Cluckbirds, which will fly out from the bottom hatch of the Veg-O Machine and block the pathway to the animal pipes.

To destroy a Buster, the player has to hit it while Sonic is in curled into a ball by launching him with a Flipper, which will free animal inside. In the 8-bit version of the game, destroying a Buster will reward the player with 30,000 points.

Powers and abilities

Busters possess propeller attachments on their heads which allows them to fly in mid-air or simply hover in one place.
