The Burst Shield is a technique that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is the joint matrix utilized by Metal Sonic.

Description

When using Burst Shield, Metal Sonic generates a fiery orange energy field around himself. This field not only protects Metal Sonic from attacks for a few seconds, but it will also incinerate everything else except Metal Sonic that is caught within it.[1]

History

Metal Sonic used the Burst Shield in a fight against Sally Acorn in order to deflect her from its body.[1] Later on, Metal Sonic used the move to destroy some crystals in the Crystal Desert Zone in order to make a faster getaway from Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower and Bunnie D'Coolette. He used the move again to escape a lava pit in the Burning Ruin Zone.[2]

Metal Sonic would reroute his reserve energy to his Burst Shield generator so that he could perform the move on an unknown creature in the Distant Abyss Zone and save Dr. Eggman.[3]
