The Burboom[1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, pappus-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Being based on the pappi found on flowers such as dandelions, the Burbooms have light brown heads with a round mouth, cartoonish black eyes, and a gray disk with light blue insides. On top of their heads, they have a segmented gray pole with a round cluster of green spikes on the middle and a purple light bulb on the top.

Overview[]

In Knuckles' Chaotix, the Burbooms appear as enemies in Botanic Base. In gameplay, they circle their way gently through the air in figure-8 patterns. However, the player will take damage from the Burboom if they attempt to attack them with a Spin Jump. A Burboom can also catch one of the playable characters underneath it, holding them in place before self-destructing with a glittery pop, hurting whoever it had caught.

Unlike many other Badniks in Knuckles' Chaotix, Burbooms do not drop any Dark Rings upon their destruction.

Powers and abilities[]

The Burbooms are capable of levitation and can detonate themselves, although at the cost of causing their own destruction as well.

Trivia[]

  • The Burboom's attack pattern is vaguely similar to that of the Grabbers attack pattern from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, as both Badniks attempt to catch the player before self-destructing in an attempt to damage them.
