Be careful not to go outside the Buoys floating in the water, or you'll get attacked by big Choppers!

Omochao, Sonic Generations (console/PC)[1]

The Buoy[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a small floating rover on water that marks the borders of an area of waters that is meant to be traveled.

Description[]

Buoys are small brown balls that float on water surfaces in rows that make up hundreds of them. They only appear in sections of Stages with bottomless waters where the player can skim across the water surface using the Boost. Their purpose is to mark the paths for the player, outlining the route along the open waters to the next section of the Stages so the player does not get lost while running or are unable to find the coast.

Games appearances[]

Sonic Unleashed[]

In the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed, the Buoys appear in daytime Stages with enormous water area like Dragon Road and Jungle Joyride. In this game, passing outside the path marked by the Buoys will not do anything, but the player will often being at the risk of losing track of their location.

Sonic Generations[]

In the console/PC version of Sonic Generations, the Buoys only appear in Seaside Hill Act 2. In this game, if the player gets outside the Buoys marked path, a Giant Chopper will appear to track Modern Sonic down and knock him into water, which will cost the player a life.
