Bumpalos are based on buffalos, while using the general concept of the RhinoBot as well. As their name implies, Bumpalos possess a buffalo-based head with a bumper on their back. They are mostly gray, with their bumper being red, blue, and yellow, as well as also having cartoonish eyes with black pupils.
Overview[]
In Sonic Mania, and its expansion Sonic Mania Plus, Bumpalos appear exclusively in both Acts of Mirage Saloon Zone. In gameplay, the Bumpalos will act similarly to the RhinoBots, where they will move forward and backward across the ground they stand, minding their own business, until they spot the playable character, at which point they will ready themselves and charge at the playable character and skewer them with their horns. Furthermore, any attacks aimed at a Bumpalo's back will get repelled due to their bumper shell, so the player must attack from another angle in order to destroy this Badnik, such as Spin Dashing into the front or back. Mighty on the other hand can bypass the Bumper on Bumpalo's back with his Hammer Drop, thereby allowing the player to easily destroy this Badnik. Upon their destruction, an Animal will be released and the player will be awarded 100 points.
Powers and abilities[]
The Bumpalos possess horns quite capable of skewering their opponents. Their backs' bumper shell also make them immune to blunt attacks from certain angels.
Weaknesses[]
The Bumpalos do not have any protection on the their side, making them vulnerable to getting destroyed by their foe if they use a side attack such as the Spin Dash.
Notes[]
↑While not listed in any instruction manuals, the internal files in the PC release of Sonic Mania refers to this enemy as "Bumpalo".
