Bubblegum Descent (風船ガム落下,Fūsen gamu rakka?, lit. "Bubblegum Fall") is one of the Power Formation maneuvers used by Team Chaotix in Sonic Heroes and is the team's equivalent to the Triangle Dive. When performing this move, Espio the Chameleon and Charmy Bee hold onto Vector the Crocodile, who blows a large pink bubble of bubblegum that causes the team to slowly drift through midair or reach higher areas by utilizing vertical drafts.
Description
When performing the Bubblegum Descent, Vector inflates a massive purple balloon-bubble made of bubblegum while in midair to slow his own descend. Espio and Charmy then grab onto Vector's back to ride with him, with Espio hanging from the back of Vector's gold chain and Charmy holding onto the foot of Vector's tail, while Vector himself gives off a green aura.
While executing the Bubblegum Descent, it enables Team Chaotix to greatly slow their descend through midair by catching the air beneath them, and to slowly move in all directions while in mid-air, similar to glide. The move can also be used in any area with vertical drafts (e.g. fans) to allow the team to catch the upward draft generated and ascend to higher areas by floating above the updraft.
To perform the Bubblegum Descent in gameplay, Team Chaotix has to be in Power Formation, meaning that Vector has to be in the lead. The player must then press and hold down the jump button (/) while jumping in mid-air and use the control stick to move in different directions. To break the Bubblegum Descent, the player has to release the jump button.
In the Rocket Ski Jump event, Vector uses an ability called Gum Balloon to accelerate. This move is very similar to the Bubblegum Descent except that the bubble is transparent this time.
