The Bubble Bomb takes the form of magenta bubblegum puddles splatted on the ground. These puddles also emit bubbles.
In gameplay, the Bubble Bomb can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Vector. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use the Bubble Bomb if he uses the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned user.
When used, bubblegum puddles will be dropped some distance ahead of the user's current location on all lanes that the user is not currently on. Touching a Bubble Bomb with a playable character (including the user) will cause the player's screen to be obscured by bubbles and prevent them from using Items, while also slowing them down. This effect will last for a short amount of time, and can be ended early by tapping the bubbles to pop them. The Bubble Bomb can be upgraded for each individual user by leveling them to levels 4, 10 and 16, increasing the number of bubbles created up to fourteen as well as the damage taken.
To avoid Bubble Bombs, the player must either jump over them or run in between them.
