The Bu-Bu[1] (ブーブー[2] Būbū?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, piggy bank-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Being Badniks based on piggy banks, the Bu-Bus have four wheels as feet and having the overall appearance of an average pig. Like piggy banks, the Bu-Bus have a massive hole on their back in order to store their stolen Rings.

Overview[]

The Bu-Bus make their only appearance in Sonic Advance 3, where they appear exclusively in Toy Kingdom. In gameplay, they simply move back and forth without attempting to attack the player. However, should the player take damage and drop their Rings near a Bu-Bu, all of said Rings will be sucked into the Bu-Bu. If the player does not destroy the Bu-Bu fast enough, then the Rings they stole will become impossible to regain. Regardless, like every Badnik in the game, the Bu-Bus will still drop a Ring upon destruction.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by IDW Publishing, the Bu-Bus were among the many Badniks that attended Orbot and Cubot's Winter Jam reality show.[3]

Later on, several Bu-Bus were among the many Badniks lead by Dr. Eggman on his way to Sequin in order to track down the seventh Chaos Emerald.[4]
