Bridge the Gap

Cross the river and operate the drawbridge controls to connect the bridges. Reach the other bank within the time limit.

— In-Game Description, Sonic Frontiers[1]

Bridge the Gap[1] is the second and last Quest on Chaos Island, as well the last Quest in the entirety of Sonic Frontiers. It is a quest hosted by Tails, and its goal is to cross the river in order to connect the two Bridges.

Description[]

The Bridge the Gap Quest happens in the north-east regions of Chaos Island, above two massive gray Bridges. The Quest itself takes place in the skies of Chaos Island, filled with Springs, as well Ring Shooters. In the background, some different landmarks, such as a giant structure left by the Ancients and the lava lake Mechanical Collectible takes place, can be observed.

As Sonic Frontiers features a day-night cycle in the Open-Zone areas, the time of day, and by extent, some elements such as the sky, will differ from player to player.

Story[]

Shortly after collecting enough pieces for the Ancients' machinery, Sonic encountered Tails once again. This time, however, Tails asked Sonic if he was a burden to him, as he would hide every time there was a crisis. Sonic, however, told Tails to relax, reminding him about their past adventures when the fox did heroic actions.

Their interaction was disrupted by the Koco apprentice, who told them that the Bridges where out. Sonic, however, assured him that he could fix it.

Gameplay[]

Bridge the Gap takes place above Chaos Island, as Sonic is Skydiving to the isolated island. Across the Quest, the player will encounter Springs, sporting their new purple and cyan Open-Zone design, the majority sending Sonic into the sky, thus slowing him, with a few Springs launching Sonic towards the ground, making the traverse faster.

Cyclone enemies can also be found. Ring Shooter also make an appearance, which, similarily to Springs, can either give the player an advantage or slow them down. Rings are also available to collect.

In this Quest, Sonic has three Lifes. Once the player takes damage, a life will be lost, and if all three are drained, the Quest will automatically restart.

Overview[]

Bridge the Gap starts with a cutscene, where Sonic will climb one of the Bridges, then jump into the sky. The Quest takes place above Chaos Island. Its goal is to reach the ground before the timer runs out, which is 100 seconds, or 1 minute and 40 seconds. In this Quest, the player will Skydive to the ground, being boosted by using Springs pointing towards the ground and Ring Shooters, with Springs pointing towards the sky sending them up, as well some Ring Shooters which will redirect the player above instead of below.

After the player nearly reaches the ground, Sonic will be put in a series of Ring Shooters, futher boosted by a few Springs, which will send the player right above the area Sonic has to land in. By landing on the ground, another cutscene will be triggered, where Sonic presses a Button and connects the Bridges. If the player is still floating and the timer runs out or loses all three Lifes, the Quest will be automatically restarted.
