— Description, Sonic Superstars website

Bridge Island Zone is the first Zone of Sonic Superstars. It is a tropical Zone, and one of the Northstar Islands. The Zone contains two Acts that both end in boss fights, and a bonus Fruit Act.

Description[]

Bridge Island Zone takes place on the coastline of a tropical island, with sunflowers, palm trees and stone tiles decorating the checkered blue terrain. The Zone seems to take place over the span of a day, with Act 2 taking place at sunset and the boss battle at nightfall. Smaller islands, rock structures and rainbows can be spotted throughout the background. The Zone is filled with various gimmicks and obstacles, including walls that the player can run on and waterfalls that can be climbed using Water.

Story[]

Having learned that Dr. Eggman aims to capture the giant Animals of the Northstar Islands[1], Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy arrive in Bridge Island Zone to begin their mission of thwarting the mad doctor's sinister operations.

Overview[]

Act 1[]

Being the first Act of the game, Bridge Island Zone Act 1 is a straightforward level that allows players to get their bearings of the game. Throughout the Act are plenty of slopes and loops that players can use to gain speed or reach higher pathways. The Act also has a number of background walls that players can run along, floating sloped platforms that launch players through the air, and loops that will transfer players between the foreground and background of the Act. Background waterfalls that can be climbed with the Water Emerald Power are also common throughout the Act.

During Trip's Story, level design is altered to encourage the use of Ring Rolling, and hazards such as Badniks and Spikes are more prominent.

Act 2[]

Taking place during the sunset, Bridge Island Zone Act 2 utilizes the same level gimmicks as Act 1. There are many alternate paths, including in the air via floating slopes and in the background, making the second Act more expansive than its precursor. The Act ends with a special loop that will require players to run through it multiple times to destroy it and proceed.

In Trip's Story, the level design is once again altered to be more hazardous, with her unique abilities being the key to efficient progress.

Act Fruit[]

In this bonus Act, players must focus on collecting Rings while scaling the level's platforms to reach top of the Act, while avoiding the laser chasing them from the bottom of the screen.

Ring balloons, Medal balloons and spinning numbered plates that will reward players with Rings as more of them are flipped over. However, contact with the laser will cause players drop either three (during the Main Story) or all (during Trip's Story) of their Rings. The Act ends when players make contact with the treasure chest at the top of the Act, which awards fifty Rings to all players. Players will then be awarded a Medal for every 100 Rings they collected during the Act.

Bosses[]

Sub-boss[]

Main article: Mosasaurus

The sub-boss of Act 1 is the Mosasaurus. It chases players, destroying all platforms and obstacles in its path. Once the player manages to reach the end, the Mosasaurus crashes into the wall and is destroyed.

Main boss[]

The main boss of Act 2 involves Eggman using a mech to spin around and firing its arms at the player's character. Once four hits have been dealt, the legs will come off, leaving the body hovering around and slamming to the ground. The player must hit Eggman two more times to defeat him.
