Bravehog is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. He was Sonic's ancestor, according to a story told by Sonic.

History[]

Past[]

Six-hundred years ago, when the people of Mobius still lived in separate tribes according to their species, Bravehog was the leader of the Hedgehog Tribe. At the time, the land was ruled by a hyena called King Leer, who delighted in conquering the smaller tribes and inventing oppressive laws. The various tribes were reluctant to help people from other communities, but Bravehog realized that they could only defeat the hyenas if they worked together. Unable to convince the other hedgehogs of this fact, he single-handedly attempted to defend the Fox Tribe when the hyenas attacked them. However, he was overwhelmed by the hyenas and was captured. King Leer intended to shave off Bravehog's spines as a demonstration of his power, but Bravehog's brave words inspired the badger and fox onlookers to fight the hyenas and save Bravehog.

The tribes were united under Bravehog and fought back against King Leer, inspired by Bravehog's battle-cry: "Clear off!" From that day forward, the people of Mobius lived together.[1]

Powers and abilities[]

Bravehog does not demonstrate any super speed, but fights by means of a long staff.

Trivia[]

  • Bravehog was inspired by William Wallace's portrayal in the film Braveheart.
  • Bravehog (and all the other members of the Hedgehog Tribe) look exactly like Sonic, but with different clothes. (Bravehog also appears to be coloured purple, but this is because the entire story was coloured in muted tones to indicate that it was a 'flashback'.) Bravehog's resemblance to Sonic is a continuity error, as Sonic was actually born as a brown hedgehog with many spiky quills (as shown in Sonic the Comic #8, "The Origin of Sonic"). Bravehog also doesn't wear gloves like Sonic.
