Boss Attack (Sonic Adventure 2)

Boss Attack, also known as simply Boss, is a game mode that is featured in Sonic Adventure 2, its enhanced port Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and its 2012 remaster. As the name implies, the player plays through a series of boss stages.

Gameplay

In Boss Attack, the player plays through all of the boss stages depending on the selected level; the player's character used for each boss is the same character that fought that boss during Story mode. There are three Boss Attack levels: Hero Side, Dark Side and All. In the former two levels, the boss stages being played are those from their respective Stories. In All, the player plays every boss in the game from all three Stories; starting with Hero Side story's bosses, then Dark story's bosses and Last story's bosses.

When all of the bosses have been defeated, the times for each boss are displayed on the screen (for Hero Side and Dark Side) or the times for each story's bosses (for All), with the total time result being the sum of the individual boss times together. If quick enough, the Total time will be posted onto the leaderboard while the Boss Attack menu screen also displays the player's three best times. Completing each level for the first time unlocks an Emblem while completing all three of the Boss Attack levels unlocks an Achievement.
