The Boscage Maze (ボスケージメイズ[1] Bosukēji Meizu?) is a location that appears in the Sonic Prime television series. It is a Shatterspace created by the destruction of the Paradox Prism.
Description[]
The Boscage Maze is a dimension created by the destruction of the Paradox Prism. It is a version of Green Hill that has been transformed into a jungle through the power of the green Prism Shard. Most areas of the jungle floor are dark, as its vast number of trees prevent nearly all sunlight from penetrating through the canopy. Because the jungle floor is too overgrown and blocking the sun, the ecosystem is suffocated, so Thorn Rose dedicates herself in preserving the nature that remains. After getting kicked out of the jungle by Thorn, the citizens, known as the Scavengers, built a village above the trees for refuge. However, as their location has no access to food, the Scavengers must constantly sneak back to the jungle to get supplies, but most of the time, Thorn finds them and kicks them away again.
History[]
Television series[]
Season one[]
After touching the red Prism Shard, Sonic is warped to the Boscage Maze. He soon meets the Scavengers, consisting of this world's versions of Rouge, Tails, Big, and Knuckles (named Prim, Mangey, Hangry and Gnarly respectively). They attack Sonic, thinking he is there to steal their supplies. Sonic eventually gets them to calm down, and Prim explains to Sonic about how they have difficulty getting supplies to survive due to a "monster" on the jungle floor preventing them from scavenging safely. Sonic asks them if they have seen their world's Prism Shard, and Prim lies, saying she knows where it is. Prim tells Sonic that they will help them get the Shard if he helps them fend of the monster and gather supplies.
The "monster" throws Prim, Hangry, Gnarly and Mangey back to their village above the trees, while Sonic finds a giant Flicky, believing it to be the "monster", and manages to knock it unconscious, but Prim tells him that the Flicky is actually the monster's pet. Sonic then meets the real monster: this dimension's version of Amy Rose, named Thorn Rose. Thorn lets no one stay in the jungle floor to "protect" it from the scavengers alongside her Flicky pet, Birdie. She eventually agrees to help Sonic finds the Prism's Shard, but only to have him out of the jungle. The green Prism Shard is buried close to a big palm tree, which Thorn calls "the Great Green", but once Sonic unburies it, Thorn betrays him and attracts the Shard on her hammer, using its power to manipulate plants and create more trees, blocking the sunlight. When Sonic returns to above the trees, he talks to the scavengers. Prim explains that Thorn was once friends with them, but she became obsessed with protecting the jungle and aggressively kicked them out. Then, the power of the green Prism Shard creates many tree roots, nearly destroying them.
After that, Sonic, using Amy's peaceful tactics, tries to make Thorn and the scavengers talk to each other to make amends, but the scavengers attack Thorn, who fights back by creating more trees, completely blocking the sunlight and destroying the scavengers' village. Sonic then attracts Thorn and Birdie to the Great Green, when Thorn strains her hammer with the shard. Sonic breaks it apart and it creates a big hole on the trees' leaves. This lets sunlight in and now Thorn can see clearly what the jungle looks like and realizes what her actions had done to nature. She remembers the time she was friends with the scavengers, but at some point, she realized that they were taking too much from the jungle's resources, making her snap in anger and become "the monster". The scavengers also finally realize what they have done to Thorn and apologize to her. This makes her reconcile with the Scavengers and Sonic leaves to get the Shard, but when touching it, he is flung back to New Yoke City through the Void.
Season two[]
Sometime later, after figuring out how to travel across the Shatterspaces, the Chaos Council, the evil rulers of New Yoke City, came to the Boscage Maze in their Mothership to get their hands on the green Shard for their plot to conquer the entire Shatterverse. Seeing them from the Void, Sonic returned to chase after them and stop their plans, with the goal of retrieving the Shard to start rebuilding the Paradox Prism in Ghost Hill. Thorn tells the Scavengers to fight the Eggforcers, as they need to protect their place. Prim strongly disagrees, saying they should give them the Shard instead. Thorn states that the Shard is the heart of the jungle, and she won't give it back. Sonic arrives on the scene, and quickly sides with Thorn. Both hedgehogs go to the jungle, where a fierce battle takes place against Dr. Don't, Dr. Babble, and a lot of Eggforcers. In the end, the Council is able to steal the Shard. Sonic leaves the place, but promises Thorn he will come back to repair the jungle. With the green Shard in the Chaos Council's possession, they used its energy, as well as the energy of the red and blue Shards to form buildings in both the Boscage Maze and No Place, starting the decay of the Shatterverse.
Sonic came back with Nine and the makeshift Shard Case containing the three Shards through one of the portals the Council created and asked Thorn if she can clear a runway, which she accepted. Rusty and Black Rose also showed up in the Kraken and as they were shooting down some Eggforcers, they saw Thorn Rose who were surprised seeing another of their counterpart but were impressed by Thorn's fighting.
Season three[]
When Nine connected all of the Shards together in The Grim in an attempt to restore the Paradox Prism to use it to make it a paradise for himself, it began to accelerate the decay, and as that happened, the three pink hedgehogs teamed up and recused the Scavengers and headed to New Yoke City. Sonic also saw the Boscage Maze decaying through the portal to it from New Yoke City.
After the fight in The Grim, Nine used the energy from the fully restored Paradox Prism to reform the Gateway to the Boscage Maze, along with the other Shatterspaces' Gateways.
