The Boomerang Switch[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic Boom series. It is a fuse which can be destroyed to open paths.
Description[]
The Boomerang Switch takes the appearance of a fragile glowing fuse held on a metallic disk. They can be found on the walls and ceilings in the adventure levels, usually within corners or on top of walls, where they are too far way to be reached by anything else than the Guided Boomerang.
Each Boomerang Switch is linked to a spiked roller in the adventure levels which blocks a passage the player can travel through. Touching such a roller will damage the playable characters, hindering their progress. If the Boomerang Switch is destroyed with the Guided Boomerang, its roller will be lowered instantly, allowing the player passage through the passage. This makes the Boomerang Switch a vital part of Sticks the Badger's puzzle-solving mechanics. Often, there are also strings of Rings that lead to a Boomerang Switch.
Game appearances[]
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal[]
The Boomerang Switches made their first appearance in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. In this game, their fuses glow blue and their disks are brownish red. As the Guided Boomerang closes in on the Boomerang Switch in this game, a blue circle with yellow arrows will appear next to the Boomerang Switch, pointing out its position.
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice[]
In Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, the Boomerang Switches retain their design from Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, except their fuses glow in a brighter blue and their disks are orange. In addition, they, and their associated barrier, have an icon of Sticks' boomerang in front of them.
