The Boomerang[2] is an object that appears in the Sonic Boom series. It is Sticks the Badger's weapon of choice next to her own paranoia,[3] and she always keep it in tow.[4]

Description[]

Appearance[]

The Boomerang is a curved, handmade weapon.[4] It is made of wood and has white sports tape wrapped around it at both ends.

Abilities and traits[]

Much like boomerangs are often thought to do, Sticks' boomerang returns to its user after being thrown. It can also channel a person's Fire or Ice energies, allowing it to freeze or melt its targets upon impact.[5]

The boomerang is Sticks' main weapon which she wields with significant proficiency. It is used mostly as a long-ranged projectile to hit opponents out of Sticks' range. Despite being wooden, it is highly durable; it can hit with enough force during flight to cleave through multiple Badniks without impeding its speed or trajectory.[6][7] Alternatively, Sticks can wield it as a melee weapon, like a club or dagger.[7][8]

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal[]

In Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, when Lyric the Last Ancient kidnapped Amy, Sticks armed herself with her boomerang on Team Sonic's rescue mission. During the escapade, the boomerang briefly got stuck in a Buzz Saw.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice[]

In Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, with the environment starting to degrade, Sticks brought her boomerang with her on her team's mission to undo the damage, using it either to seal fissures or fight foes.

The boomerang has been wielded exclusively by Sticks the Badger into countless confrontations with Dr. Eggman and other perceived enemies, and for the purpose of rescuing the innocent from dangers. While the boomerang has a long history of success against Badniks and other weaker robots, it has faired less better against more powerful foes like Scrapheap Bot, Giant Robot and the Mega.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]

One time, Team Sticks tried using the boomerang as bait to lure Sonic and Knuckles on the right path to Hidden Meadows, which failed humorously.[26]

Over her career, Sticks the Badger has wielded her boomerang into countless confrontations with Dr. Eggman and other perceived enemies, and for the purpose of rescuing the innocent.[27][28][29][30][31][32]

When Amy lost her hammer, Sticks lent Amy her boomerang, only for Amy to give it up after she failed repeatedly to throw it correctly.[1]

Other game appearances[]

Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom[]

In Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom, the Boomerang makes a small appearance as a part of Sticks' character model. However, it does not have an impact on the gameplay.

Trivia[]

  • In real life, curved boomerangs do not actually return after hitting a target; it is physically impossible, especially if the boomerang hits with enough force to cause substantial damage, like how Sticks' can.
  • Although the initial artworks show that the Boomerang fits in the size of a palm, it is much larger during gameplay in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal.
  • Cyborg Sticks has her own copy of the Boomerang.[33]
