The Bonus Stage in Sonic Superstars is a series of optional stages that the player can visit separately from the main game. To access it, they have to interact with a Star Post with a certain amount of Rings. This will in turn create a Star Circle above the post that, when jumped into it, will take the player to the Bonus Stage.
Description[]
The Bonus Stages are very similar to the Special Stages in the Sega Mega Drive version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog.
Gameplay[]
The Bonus Stages, as in the Special Stages they are based off, feature the characters in a constant Spin Attack status going across a rotating maze by doing the Spin Jump while interacting with gimmicks like Color Blocks, Ups and Downs, and Bumpers. The goal in these stages is to collect Medals and Rings. If all Rings and Medals are collected, the player will receive a Perfect Bonus of 10000 points. The Metal NiGHTS character parts and the purple color will also become available in the Shop.

Trivia[]
- This is the second time in the Sonic the Hedgehog series that a Bonus Stage serves as a recreation of a Special Stage from a previous game, the first time being Sonic Mania's Bonus Stages being inspired by the Special Stages from Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Blue Sphere.
- This is the first recreation of the Special Stages from the original Sonic the Hedgehog since Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I in 2010.
- The Bonus Stages are multi-layered. The Special Stages in Sonic the Hedgehog CD were originally meant to have this feature when they were still based on the ones from the original Sonic the Hedgehog.
- Despite only three Medals being available in the main mazes, it is possible to collect four Medals from the Bonus Stage by collecting 100 Rings.
