The Bomber Elite is an enemy that appears in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. They are a model of Destruction Troops created by Lyric the Last Ancient. One of Lyric's most elite warriors, they can fire barrages of highly destructive bombs.

Appearance

The Bomber Elites are tall, large and very bulky robots with green-yellow armor, black joints and green lights. They have a massive upper torso with broad shoulders, thin arms which have energy cannons for forearms, long and pointy elbows, and five green-glowing cylinders around each "wrist", and on their chest they have a large eye with a slit-like pupil and yellow sclera. On their shoulders, flaps can be opened to reveal several energy bombs. They also have a medium-sized waist with green lines, a round pelvis, and three black legs covered in green-yellow armor.

Overview

The Bomber Elites were made by Lyric the Last Ancient about a millennia ago where they aided with Lyric's plans to destroy the earth. When Lyric was imprisoned before completing his plans, the Bomber Elites were abandoned. However, as a contingency plan, Lyric left some of them behind to be found so the finders would set him free to learn the Bomber Elites' secrets.[1] When Lyric escaped in the present, he reactivated and/or reclaimed his Bomber Elites.

The Bomber Elites are very rare enemies that are only fought as small minibosses in the last levels of the game. The player first encounters them in Creeper Gorge. In gameplay, the Bomber Elites can attack in three ways: the first is by shooting bombs at the player with their arm cannons, the second is by unleashing a short-range wave close up, and the third is by shooting bombs into the air so they rain down on the player. Additionally, they can make themselves invulnerable to damage and unfazed by attacks for a few seconds by glowing blue, though using Stomp on top of them can disable this protection.

The Bomber Elites are one of the strongest and most dangerous enemies in the game: their attacks deal superb amounts of damage and they have a large amount of health. Also, their size make them impossible to be lassoed with the Enerbeam. If the player can stun them though, the player can lank the Bomber Elites with the Enerbeam by pressing WiiDSA to instantly destroy them. When defeated, the Bomber Elites release six Rings and a varying amount of Robot Scrap.

After Team Sonic defeated Lyric, all the Bomber Elites were subsequently scrapped.

Powers and abilities

The Gatling Elites are impressively tough robots, capable of withstanding excessive amounts of damage. As their specialty, they are equipped with launchers on their back and an energy cannon on each arm which can shoot barrages of green energy bombs powerful enough to blow a small bridge. Alternatively, they can create a harmful short-range wave by turning their arm cannons into the ground. They can also temporarily cloak their entire bodies in a blue force field, making them invulnerable to harm.

Trivia

  • The Bomber Elites' name was not revealed in the final version of Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. However, their name is listed in an unused biography for the game.[2]
