The Bomb Block is an obstacle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. When a player touches a Bomb Block, it will flash and beep for a few seconds before exploding, damaging the player if they are in the way.

Description

Bomb Blocks are designed similarly to bombs, featuring a red and black color scheme. They are usually found as part of platforming segments, either in long lines to traverse across, or with others to gain climb up.

When touched, a Bomb Block will begin to detonate, and the player must be quick about getting away from them to avoid being damaged.

Sonic Colors

In Sonic Colors, Bomb Blocks appear in the stages Starlight Carnival Act 2 and Aquarium Park Act 5, where they are positioned in long rows that the player needs to clear to proceed the stage and collect Red Star Rings.

Sonic Forces

In Sonic Forces, Bomb Blocks reappear in the stages Bomb Block 1 and Bomb Block 2, where they are used as pathways positioned above bottomless pits for the player to run along. If they explode while the player is still on them, they will be damaged and fall, failing the stage.

Sonic Frontiers

Bomb Blocks reappear while on Ouranos Island, but only during The Final Horizon scenario. They have the same design as the previous games, and are used in a similar fashion, though vertically instead of horizontally. They are often found when climbing the Trial Towers, but appear in other places on the island as well as part of other platforming challenges.
