Boing-o-Bot (バネモトラ Bane Motora?),[1][2] also known as a Spring Snail,[3] is an enemy that first appears in Sonic Chaos. It is a beetle-type Badnik created by Dr. Robotnik.
Appearance
In Sonic Chaos, Boing-o-Bots are counterparts to Moto Bugs, though they have a few differences. Their armor also has a Spring on top of it. Boing-o-Bots also have wheels at the side of their bodies opposing Moto Bugs' single wheel being under its body. The pincers are yellow instead of white or blue. They appear to lack the engines at their rears.
In Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, similar looking Badniks have much closer resemblance to blue sea turtles with yellow shells.
Game appearances
Sonic Chaos
In Sonic Chaos Boing-o-Bots roll around in Turquoise Hill Zone (colored red) and Mecha Green Hill Zone (colored blue). They are invulnerable from attacks to their upper half due to their Spring. The only way to destroy it is to attack from the side by using a Spin Attack. Like other Badniks in the game, they don't have Animals as an energy source.
Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble
Similar Badniks appear in Great Turquoise Zone of Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble. They also move around slowly with flipper-like limbs rather than wheels. These enemies are also summoned by the Zone's boss Tart Turtle in the Great Turquoise Zone Act 3.
Like in Sonic Chaos, these enemies can be defeated by using Spin Attack and they do not have any energy source inside them.
Trivia
- Boing-o-Bot's japanese name "Bane Motora" means literally a "spring engine".
