Alright, it's almost been a week since the demotion proposal was launched, we've all cooled down from this experience, and I have been thinking about my behavior towards Myself and Gen. While my opinion still stands that I am completely against both of you in demoting Journalistic, I will promptly respect your decisions on why. Therefore, I will leave both of you a personal apology letter on both of your message walls so this thread doesn't get sappy and such.
Now, looking at the scoreboard, and mind you I haven't counted exactly how many users voted for or against, but it does seem like there is an overwhelming opposition to Journalistic's demotion. The main theme I see in all of these messages of opposition is that Journalistic should not be demoted because he hastily closed site discussions and close his own message wall posts, and to that I still agree that he has every right to answer and close a post on his message wall. For site discussions, I've been thinking about it and it is a bit of a concern: it isn't enough to warrant a demotion but I do see with Myself and Gen's points on how irrational of a decision it is for him to do that. However, I don't believe it is done out of bad intentions. I personally do not care whether he closes a thread or not, it is up to him if he chooses to close it. However, the issue is visible to me and I can see the viewpoints of the opposite team.
In other words, I'm restating my final thoughts and I will be more open to why other users believe it is an issue in the future. Again, I apologize for my hostile behavior.
After sitting on this for the past few days, I can say that I'm a lot calmer than I was when this whole affair started. I also want to issue some apologies of my own, one to you, BlueSpeeder, for letting myself lose my temper with you too quickly, and to everyone else whom I've also expressed a similar impatient attitude towards. Upon further reflection, I think I can admit that I should've made a better effort to address the issues I was/am experiencing with Journalistic before deciding to outright call for his demotion, either by trying to address my concerns to Journalistic himself or through other means if direct contact would not have been successful, whatever those methods may be. I'm not as eager to see Journalistic demoted as I was the day this thread was made, although that being said I think that this thread has indeed shown that there are several underlying issues between various members of SNN's Userbase that should be addressed as quickly and efficiently as possible, namely the need to establish an efficient means of communication with everyone, especially the members of the Admin team, the need to make a stronger effort to not argue from emotion, and to not let our emotions get the better of us when we find ourselves facing strong opposition towards our positions in a debate. There's also the fact that Journalistic needs to address the main points of contention his critics have with him and work to make a solution with them that would satisfy all parties involved, otherwise I don't see how we'd be able to completely move past this whole debacle without risking creating some degree of resentment between various Users who have participated in this thread, even if no one willingly chooses to make that possible resentment readily apparent.
As of this writing here is my current thoughts on everything: Even though I feel a lot calmer compared to how I was in the beginning of this whole affair, as of this writing, I still have little reason to believe that Journalistic is in any way taking the concerns of his critics seriously. Even though I am not as eager to see him demoted as I originally was, I would still feel better about this whole state of affairs if I knew that something would be done to address the main concerns that were being addressed in this thread, that some form of compromise could be made that could satisfy the largest amount of people possible while being fair and reasonable to everyone involved, if it is ultimately decided that Journalistic should keep his Admin privileges (which I believe he will, given the near overwhelming support he has received in this thread.).
I don't know if I made this clear at any point throughout this thread, but since the very beginning of this whole debacle, and even now, all it would've really took for me to express leniency towards Journalistic's recent actions/behavior was to see him address the main points of contention that were being expressed to him/about him and to know that, even if he ultimately felt that the position of his critics was greatly overblown, he'd be willing to work with his critics to come up with some sort of solution that would've pleased everyone and allow us to resolve this issue quickly, before things got too heated between anyone participating in the discussion. Basically, "I am listening to what you have to say, and even though I might disagree with you on this thing or that thing, I am willing to try and see if I can assuage your concerns about me to the best of my ability." Hearing something to this effect come from Journalistic himself, and seeing him act accordingly, is all it would've taken for me to have pardoned Journalistic of his recent actions and behavior.
Again, while I admit that I was too quick to jump the gun and call for his demotion right away instead of trying to address my concerns through alternative means first, I think this thread has shown that there are indeed some problems that really do need to be looked into before we can all completely move on from everything and continue our lives on here as normal. Even if it's not as extreme as calling for outright demotion, I'd like to think that asking for the problems that I and others have highlighted to be resolved in some way, in a way that would satisfy all parties involved, is a perfectly reasonable request, wouldn't you agree?
