We've had tons of forums like this one, but I will have to make one again, since I've seen stuff happenin' lately. Sure, I'm not the biggest rule follower, but just gonna hand in a personal opinion.
Taking arguments to PM
Many mods/All mods don't do this and they should. Recentley, we've had these little flame wars on the chat because of contrasting opinions -which is normal- but a lot of you don't handle situations properly, mainly active users (who should).
When he have arguments going on, either I see mods provoke the user arguing, making them look dumb or actually arguing, and in the end not caring about mutual understanding, just wanting to raise a -what my mom calls it- "Shut up call", by having an opinion considered true, and blocking the user.
These arguemnts always carry forward on the main chat, and mods tell users they will be banned for disrupting the chat. They should not if the argument is solely based on honest opinions, and instead, the mods should hold a Multi/PM and discuss it properly there, which they never do, even when asked.
Even when asked on their own PM.
So, to cut it short: Moderators should take user complaints (new users espeically) a little more to consideration than they do, and if an argument persists, they should take it to PM (like they dont) and attempt to hold mutual understandings if it is possible, since banning someone for an opinion (raging a bit or not) seems unfair.
Also, on a note:
Users should stop ridiculing argueres. I've seen over the past, by a good 4-5 users these terms like "look at all this drama" "oh the drama" "im just gonna leave because of this drama" "oh just drop it" "can we stop arguing" and making the argueres look pointless gets people pretty mad, yet no one really understands it that way and the term "drama" has almost become an official term on here. Plus, "can we stop arguing" lays distress and further vain because the argument end with no proper consensus and leads to more bitter relations.
In the end, it just makes things worse.
