— Description, Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal

The Blunt Force is an enemy that appears in the Sonic Boom series. It is a mass-produced model of Destruction Troops created by Lyric the Last Ancient.

Appearance[]

The Blunt Forces look like three-legged rhinoceroses. They have thick orange armor, grey and green joints, and a large torso with front legs resembling human arms and a single inverted hind leg. Each limb has a foot for support. It also has a large brown eye with a slit-like pupil and green sclera for a head, which is covered in armor resembling the snout of a rhinoceros, complete with a nose horn and three spikes.

Overview[]

The Blunt Forces were created in the Robot Facility by Lyric the Last Ancient five millennia ago to help him destroy the earth's lifeforms and conquer it.[1] During an attack on the remaining Ancients however, the Blunt Forces were shut down when Lyric was imprisoned.[1][2] In the present, they were recovered by Lyric after he escaped to search for the Crystal Shards and battle Team Sonic too.

The Blunt Forces are only encountered in Robot Facility. In gameplay, they walk idly around their patrol area until they spot the playable character, at which point they will try to ram them. A Blunt Force also takes two hits to be destroyed by common attacks, as the first hit only takes away its armor. Sometimes, the Blunt Forces are also equipped with purple shields that protect them from harm. However, these shields can be removed with the Enerbeam or plowed through with a Sprint empowered with the "Mega Sprint" upgrade. Even if the player manages to destroy a Blunt Force though, a new one will later respawn to take its place. Additionally, the fourth Toy the player purchases from Q-N-C's Toy Shop will be a Blunt Force figurine.

After Team Sonic and Shadow defeated Lyric, the Blunt Forces were stopped once more.

Personality[]

The Blunt Forces are usually mindless and silent drones unwaveringly loyal to Lyric the Last Ancient, having been programmed to obey his every command.[1] Otherwise, they are quite wild and brutal, always attacking with full force.

Powers and abilities[]

The Blunt Forces possess a deadly horn on their head which they can use for offense. They are also quite physically strong, capable of inflicting significant damage, and have extra layers of armor for enhanced durability.

His race was devoted to peacefully controlling the world’s resources. Driven mad by power, Lyric turned on his fellow Ancients and took control of the resources. Building an army of robots programmed to obey his every command, the deadly snake-like villain set out to destroy everything organic and create a world of twisted metal and robots. However, just before he could successfully take over, he was attacked by the last surviving Ancients and imprisoned forever. With his army shut down and his plans ruined, he waited in prison plotting his revenge. Years passed and Lyric began to give up hope. That is, until Sonic comes across him. Now with his army rebooted, and his plans in place, the only thing stopping Lyric from total victory is Sonic and his friends."
