The Blue Eagle is a gray twin-engine aircraft. It possesses an aerodynamic body with a blue nose and a one-seated cockpit on the front with a glass cover over it. It also two sets of wings, the first is a smaller pair on each side which are situated right behind the cockpit. Behind these are the much larger main wings, which have blue edges on the front and the G.U.N. symbol on the top. Connecting the main wings to the body of the Blue Eagle are jet engines on each side. Right behind the main wings are also twin vertical tailfins.
Abilities and features[]
As aircrafts, the Blue Eagles are capable of flight. In terms of armaments, the Blue Eagles are equipped with machine guns and missiles that they can drop on their targets.
Game appearances[]
Sonic Adventure 2[]
In Sonic Adventure 2, the Blue Eagle appears in Metal Harbor, Weapons Bed, Mission Street, and Radical Highway. For the majority of these stages, they only appear in specific parts and fire roaming missiles in front of the player that cause explosions upon impact. In Radical Highway, however, as Shadow reaches the end of the updraft section, a Blue Eagle will fly down and fire its machine gun instead. A similar case also occurs in the hard mode of Mission Street, where a Blue Eagle will track the player throughout the stage.
In this game, the Blue Eagle can be destroyed easily with the Homing Attack, Light Speed Attack, or Lock-On Missiles when they are very close to the player. Upon destruction, the player is awarded with 500 points.
In gameplay, the Blue Eagle cannot be attacked. In Radical Highway Act 1, they appear right at the beginning, doing quick sorties over the whole Act and fire roaming missiles toward Classic Sonic that create small explosions upon impact. In Radical Highway Act 2, several Blue Eagles appear above Modern Sonic in the middle of the Act and remain stationary in the air, before attacking with laser beams.
In the Sonic X anime series, the Blue Eagles appeared during the Sonic Adventure 2 adaptation saga. In this media, they were constructed after the Perfect Chaos incident to combat Dr. Eggman's forces.
The Blue Eagle strongly resembles the Sukhoi Su-34 Fullback, a Russian made fighter-bomber jet.
In the Nintendo 3DSversion of Sonic Generations, the Blue Eagle's sortie in Radical Highway Act 1 can be repeated after it has left. The player must go back in the said section and then move forward toward the spot the Blue Eagle first rushed toward.
