The Black Trail is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a trail used to modify the playable character's appearance and boost their rewards.

Description

When equipped, the Green Trail takes the appearance of a textured black and smooth streak with faint sparkles that the playable character leaves behind them while they move around or surrounds them like an aura when they stand still. This trail stretches out from behind the playable character until it eventually fades away.

Overview

In Sonic Speed Simulator, the Black Trail is a collectible trail of the "Epic" rarity, although it used to be "Common".

In 1.0, it can be unlocked at the red vending machine in Emerald Hill. When purchasing from this vending machine, the player has a 30% chance of getting a Black Trail.

In 2.0, it can be unlocked by completing the "A Jump-Start" quest from Sonic in Green Hill by collecting one Sky Ring. the player gets 5 of them upon completion.

In gameplay, the Black Trail lets the playable character produce this trail's textured streak behind them as they move around. In addition, when equipped, the Black Trail will grant additional Experience Points whenever the playable character obtains a Chaos Orb and additional Rings whenever they pick up a single Ring. The player can as well level up a Black Trail for a cost of Rings and/or Red Star Rings at the Upgrade Machine, with level 25 being the maximum level. Leveling up a Black Trail will improve its reward-granting attributes. Additionally, the player can evolve a Black Trail by collecting five Black Trails, leveling all of them up to maximum, and bringing them to the Fusion Machine. Evolving a Black Trail will combine the Black Trails into a single evolved trail at level 1, with boosted base stats compared to the un-evolved version.
