The Black Oak is a creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are a breed of Black Arms and are among their strongest foot soldiers.

Appearance

Black Oaks are muscular versions of the Black Warriors. They have a nasty gray skin, with red color starts from the humerus to the end of their hands, and from the ankles to their feet. They also have sharp claws on both hands and feet.

History

Shadow the Hedgehog

Multiple Black Oaks joined Black Doom for the first invasion of Sonic's World and faced several factions. However, once Black Doom was slain by Shadow the Hedgehog, the Black Oaks died with him.[1]

Shadow Fall

Several Black Oaks under Black Death's control joined for a new invasion of Sonic's World on-board the New Black Comet, where they fought against Team Dark and the Spider Troupe who invaded the New Black Comet. Despite Shadow temporarily joining their side, the Black Oaks could not stop the invaders from blowing up the New Black Comet with a nuclear warhead while Shadow killed Black Death, resulting in the Black Oaks' end.[2][3][4][5]

Personality

Like most Black Arms soldiers, the Black Oaks have no actual personality of their own and are but an extension of their hive-mind's ruler.

Powers and abilities

Blaf

The Black Oaks' resilience and high strength, from Sonic Universe #61.

The Black Oaks are some of the Black Arms' strongest footsoldiers. Possessing great physical strength, they can tear apart Giga Tropers barehanded and barge through walls without effort. They are also highly resilient, being completely unfazed by multiple gunshots.[4]

Weakness

Like all the other Black Arms, the Black Oaks' lives are connected to the hive-mind of their kind. That meant that if their hive-mind dies, so will they.[5]
