Biotex is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a planet with an atmosphere of very dense smog, which is infested with deadly microbes.
History[]
Biotex was inhabited a race of sentient beings (known as the Biotexans) who had evolved robotic physiology that allowed them to survive the lethal conditions of the planet.
When the Bem scientist Ceneca-9009 visited Biotex, she saw the metallic Biotexans and believed that they had been wrongfully transformed into this state. Intending to turn them back to creatures of flesh, which she believed was their natural state, Ceneca created the Derobotizer machine and used it. She was successful, but the process left the Biotexans vulnerable to the microbes. By the time she realized her mistake, they were all dead, and the Derobotizer was outlawed as a result.
Biotex was later brought up when Ceneca 9009 was tried for using the Robotizer to deroboticize Amadeus Prower, whom she had saved from Mobius along with his wife Rosemary. Realizing the evil of Dr. Robotnik's use of the Roboticizer to turn Mobians into his slaves, Ceneca 9009 appealed to her people to move against him. Unfortunately, because she had violated the ban on the Robotizer that had been in place since the Biotex tragedy, Ceneca was sentenced to imprisonment.
